Starting from release 0.91 (current release candidate as of May 31th, 2007), the default value for LocalSocket in clamd.conf has been changed from /tmp/clamd to /tmp/clamd.socket to avoid confusion.
You must update the configuration of all programs that connect to clamd through the unix socket to point to the new path!
Trivia: many people mistook the socket for the binary and viceversa... with very funny results :-) Search the ML archives of clamav-users for more information.
